Bouncing open universes embeddable in a distorted Randall-Sundrum brane scenario

چکیده
In reference [1] a four-dimensional effective theory of gravity embeddable in a five-dimensional ”distorted” Randall-Sundrum brane scenario was derived. The present paper is aimed at the application of such a theory to describe physics in an open Friedmann-Robertson-Walker (Weyl-symmetric) universe. It is shown that regular bouncing universes arise for a given range of the free parameter of the theory. One of the main ingredients that enter the basis of the unification scheme of the fundamental interactions is that multiple dimensions are required. In fact, modern field theory suggests spacetime to be 4 + n-dimensional (n = 6 for string theory and n = 7 for supergravity). It is usually assumed that the additional dimensions may be compacitifed down to size of the order the Planck length or below so they are not observable. However, recent developments suggest that some of the additional dimensions may have compactification radii larger than the Planck length without conflict with observations [2]. Besides, it is possible ∗[email protected] †[email protected] ‡[email protected]

2 00 1 Four - dimensional effective theory of gravity embeddable in a distorted Randall - Sundrum brane scenario
We present an effective four-dimensional formulation of the laws of gravity that respects the main features of a higher (five)-dimensional scenario of Randall-Sundrum type. The geometrical structure of the theory is that of a Weyl-integrable configuration. Standard general relativity over Riemann geometry is recovered through breaking of conformal symmetry. The singularity problem is treated. T...
متن کاملLogarithmic Correction to Newton Potential in Randall-Sundrum Scenario
Using a fixed-energy amplitude in Randall-Sundrum single brane scenario, we compute the Newton potential on the brane. It is shown that the correction terms to the Newton potential involve a logarithmic factor. Especially, when the distance between two point masses are very small compared to AdS radius, the contribution of KK spectrum becomes dominant compared to the usual inversely square law....
متن کاملBranes on the Brane
We show that four-dimensional N = 2 ungauged Einstein-Maxwell supergravity can be embedded on the Randall-Sundrum 3-brane, as a consistent Kaluza-Klein reduction of five-dimensional N = 4 gauged supergravity. In particular, this allows us to describe four-dimensional Reissner-Nordström black holes within the Randall-Sundrum scenario. Using earlier results on the embedding of five-dimensional N ...
متن کاملBouncing Braneworlds Go Crunch!
Recently, interesting braneworld cosmologies in the Randall-Sundrum scenario have been constructed using a bulk spacetime which corresponds to a charged AdS black hole. In particular, these solutions appear to ‘bounce’, making a smooth transition from a contracting to an expanding phase. By considering the spacetime geometry more carefully, we demonstrate that generically in these solutions the...
متن کاملSupersymmetric branes with (almost) arbitrary tensions
We present a supersymmetric version of the two-brane Randall-Sundrum scenario, with arbitrary brane tensions T1 and T2, subject to the bound |T1,2| ≤ √ −6Λ5, where Λ5 < 0 is the bulk cosmological constant. Dimensional reduction gives N = 1, D = 4 supergravity, with cosmological constant Λ4 in the range 1 2Λ5 ≤ Λ4 ≤ 0. The case with Λ4 = 0 requires T1 = −T2 = √ −6Λ5. This work unifies and genera...
